Went out to feed the cows this morning and there are lots of fresh faces sitting on the rack and a few in nearby tree tops.
I noticed lots of activity around rack 1 and 2 the last few days.
Based on nest checks, I knew it was getting close for the first 4 gourds.

Perfect timing too!!!
We are supposed to have a week of good weather!
Cheers,
Joe

Great news Joe. Always good when they get them up. I know I feel that "concern" dial drop jjjjust a hair.
Looks like 2 gourds have fledged so that's 12 up to start it. They maybe around 4 more clutches poised in the next 1-1.5 weeks.

You right about forecasts which state clear weather until Thursday(06/11) of next week as of today but we'll will wait and see on that. Surely hope so so the nest changes will take more then a few days.

Looks like a we got a nest of 8 maybe ready to fly in a week or so God willing if all continue to get fed well enough. Those parents have been some busy bodies for a while. There are 10 pretty much all adult size birds living in that gourd right now.
Did a round of nest changes again after the 3 rain storms last week where I noticed the fatness of many babies. Many of them are pretty darn plumb including the Blue Bird babies as of yesterday so it appears there is an excess of choice grub for them this season. ~No problem stuffin those gullets  Thank God for providing for them.
On one occasion where I could sit and watch for a little, I counted 25- 30 dragon flies come in within maybe a 6-8 minute period.

Now we just need to keep em dry.
2008~(1st yr) 4 pairs, 11 to 12 fledged
2009~(2nd yr) 9 pairs, 41 fledged
2010~(3rd year) 11 pairs. 50 fledged
2011~(4th year) 20 pairs, 23 out of 23 gourds Martin occupied, 3 fledged, the rest died in the drought. (1 new Blue Bird, 3 BB fledged.)
2012~ 26 pairs, approx. 100-110 fledged
