Sevin dust

Will a very small amount (1/4 tsp) of Sevin dust harm young PM's?

Martin Colony History: Started with 2 pair in 2014 - 7 eggs -7 fledged

Sprinkle it along the sides of the gourd or compartment so that it can sift down below the nest itself and it should create no problem. That is how I apply mine.
2017-5 pair
2016-4 pair- 18 hatched-18 fledged
2015-1 pair -Both ASY- 6 eggs-5 fledged
2014-2 pair- 1 ASY-M/SY-F-1 ASY pair - 7 eggs-7 fledged

Martin Colony History: Area is rural. Offer 28 compartments...metal housing (Lonestar Goliad) & Supergourds all w/crescent entrance holes. Purple martins are abundant here and eager for quality, well maintained, safe housing. Expect near 100% occupancy this season.

I'm not sure we have a definitive answer to that question. More will weigh in with their opinions. I try to keep sevin dust off of the nestlings and use it sparingly. I apply 1/8 teaspoon under the nest trays or in the case of my gourds under or around the perimeter of the nest. The mites crawl all over the interior of the nest cavity and will track though the sevin dust & die...usually within 24-48 hours.

Thanks for the replys. I guess it doesn't matter. The birds fledged out of that compartment 10 minutes after I applied it. Either it was not to their liking r it was just time to fly.
