New video from yesterday in KY. Watch young learn to fly inside the gourd. Mom feeds large dragonflies.

Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.

How fun was that to watch?! Larry, do you mind if I post that youtube link to my personal facebook? My friends that still read my birdy posts would really enjoy that too. I am thinking of one in particular. Last February a car hit her (passenger seat), her daughter and two grandbabies head on. The babies were properly restrained and had no injuries. The daughter had a broken knee cap and arm. My friend sustained 17 broken bones and had numerous surgeries. She spent three months in the hospital and rehab center but is home now! She is someone that has always cheered my PM posts and I had thought this year I would have her out to my place to relax and observe. Next year. Anyway, the things people go through and not only survive but triumph. Immediately after the wreck she was frantic for the others in the car and glad that she took the brunt of it. Hero.

I enjoyed that inside glimpse so much! Plus the written comments throughout. That Mama does keep a tidy house and close eye on all. So awesome.

I suppose if it's on YouTube it's up for grabs. :)

Outstanding video. I love how you lit the inside of the gourd with the napkin over the access opening. I will have to try that next year. Just outstanding.

So glad yawl enjoy the videos! Yes, it's on YouTube it's okay to share. It's polite to note the author on videos. Thanks. My goal is to connect more humans to Purple Martins. So if my videos are shared, then more humans find out about Purple Martins.

I'm editing some nice footage of Barn Swallows to post soon, mainly to help people correctly ID Purple Martins cousins. Bumping this one up. 2 new videos coming soon. I love this inside the nest look.
