After all I've gone through giving up my colony is killing me.
I'm moving to the other side of town. I've already taken my rack down and delivered it to the new location. Not sure when I'll get it back up, I've been working day and night remodeling the new home, and now I have to fix the house I'm in to get it ready to sell. The good thing is I'm moving to a Martin rich area! My mentor is only about a mile away, and a golf course full of Martin houses he manages.
I'll be checking in from time to time (whenever I get a chance to sit down) just thought I'd drop a line. I wish all of you a great Martin season

- Martin Colony History: Started trying to attract purple martins in 2012! It's finally happened in 2017! 5 years!!! ASY male and SY female came May 1st, fledged 5 babies!

- Martin Colony History: I started trying to attract Purple Martins in 2011. I got my first breeding pair in 2013.
2013-1 pair, 2014-4 pair, 2015-8 pair, 2016-12 pair 60 babies :-).
I wish you the best at the new location, Tony. I was just wondering if you had gotten any returning martins yet.

- Martin Colony History: 22 year landlord, 14 at current residence..offering 9 racks and a homemade T-8 for 166 total cavities. 160 Pair in 2018 Racks consist of a Deluxe 12, AAA 16, Starburst 16, 2 K-18 Series, Super 24, 2 Gemini, Multi-purpose/two trio’s/4gourds and a T-8..Great hobby to be involved in..
Will be facing your same situation in a couple years..wife has decided to be closer to our grandkids in another city in KS when we retire in a couple years..there are martins present in that city, but just the thought of giving up my super colony is killing me!! Thank you all so much for your kind words of encouragement.
I know it's just a matter of time before I have a colony again. I mounted my gourd rack sleeve today and can't wait to see the gourds ready once again. I noticed on my way home that a neighbor who has been trying for years to attract martins moved his houses and gourds as I suggested. I hope that maybe he will pick up my birds.

Sorry you are losing your colony but you should be able to get martins at your new site. Our first martin arrived Thursday morning. Now have 3 present. Expecting more very soon. Hope your get martins at your new place this year. We may be moving in near future also and it just hurts thinking about leaving a large martin colony behind. My son and family will be living here but he isn't interested in martins. Hope he will learn to love them when that day comes. Keep us updated here on forum on your new place and martins.

Sorry to hear about you losing your colony Tony. I've been "off the grid" for a couple of years and I am glad to know that you were able to get one started at your location. I know you tried for several years. I bet it won't be hard to get another one started. You'll put all that good information that you gained trying to get your current colony to use in getting your next one. Get that rack up within the next 3-4 weeks and you might have them this year.
Martin landlord since 2003. Currently offering 162 plastic gourds with tunnels, all with Conley II entrances with the Lewis modification. I have 24 Supergourds and the rest are Troyer Horizontals.
