We have 2 Trio converted Castles + one 8 compartment gourd rack and one 12 compartment gourd rack. 2025 summary: Best year ever! Fledged 100+ purple martins with zero sparrows at colony site this year!

We have windows that reflect and seems to be targets for bird hits! We have several gel clings which help; however, I have been unable to find any purple martin clings....I have exhausted websites without luck.....any suggestions?

The American Bird Conservancy has been actively developing and testing products to reduce window strikes - their bird tape gets high marks, and they offer other products as well.

We had a martin hit our porch window last year and sadly didn't survive. Hard to lose one that way. They are excellent at maneuvering but sometimes miscalculate. Somewhere I read to use a yellow highlighter to mark a grid on your windows, birds visual spectrum see it ...almost invisible to humans. No bird strikes after that, could have been luck, I don't know. It fades a bit over time so I kept re-highlighting every so often. Comes off easily with window cleaner. Will be drawing on my windows in the next few days  ...don't want any martins crashing. A certain cooper hawk....well that's another matter.

Thank you Larry for your suggestion. However, I am searching for decorative clings in the shape of purple martins to keep other song birds from hitting our windows. I am currently using Easter and St. Patrick's Day gels on the windows, but still searching for the purple martin image.

Martin Colony History: The 1972 St. Agnes flood wiped out all the Martins in my area. One day, in 1997-98, 5 or 6 Martins landed on the power wires crossing my back yard. I had no house for them. They kept coming back day after day. We got a martin house a few weeks later & they have been coming back every year since. I average 12-15 pair per year.

OPPSSS not permitted to post websites. I found some, set of 6, not all great but the only ones after looking at tons of pages. Send me an e-mail & I'll give you the website I found them on.
