- Martin Colony History: Put up the colony in 2015 and had a mean and nasty fight with the sparrows, yet one pair stayed and five fledged.
Finally had a male show up and land on my housing today when I got home from school, saw three more flying around but they never landed. Hope he can convince them to stay

I think a variety of factors played a role in the population increase. One of them was extensive sparrow control throughout the entire year, in which the first year we had a swarm of sparrows. The second factor is that a nearby landlord started to let his colony run down a little bit in which he stopped removing starling and sparrow nests making my houses have more favorable conditions. Another factor that could have played a role is that I have my houses next to a huge field of costal bermuda so they have plenty of fly space and a river with stagnate holes for drinking.

I currently offer 2 S&K red barn houses and 10 gourds
I'm trying to save up and buy some nicer housing in the future
