Our live nestcam has ended, but you can relive the whole thing through our timelapse video. Watch the family, lovingly nicknamed the Rockys, raise six Purple Martins from egg to fledge.

I give the Rocky family a standing ovation! I wonder if that last one to fledge was Peewee? That was wonderful, thank you  We've just endured our first 24 hours with NO martin visits, so we needed this.

Martin Colony History: Hosting martins for about 5-6 years, keeping records back to 2014. Using all gourds-horizonal Troyers and Excluders
2018 33 pair, 140 fledged
2017-25 pair, 106 fledged
2016 25 pair, 87 fledged
2015 24 pair, 70 fledged
2014 21 pair, 43 fledged

Thank you again for this beautiful memory of the "Rocky family". I learned so much from experiencing PM lives from the "inside." I'm sharing this with my friends on FB-it really touches hearts. A lovely way to spread PM awareness.

Martin Colony History: Colony established May 20, 2017 after three unsuccessful years. Persistent and aggressive Tree Swallows plagued the site, but beyond learning - and practicing - to control them, was the return in 2017 of a 2016-SY-M previously unable to find a mate. As a handsome ASY-M, he brought along two females and a swagger that soon put the Tree Swallow issue to rest. As the anchor pair, he and his mate hatched all six of their eggs into fat and healthy babies into what settled in to be a three-pair, flourishing new colony with up to 11 birds total, including 3 SY-M trouble makers.

Professional quality, personal story. Charming and informative, a service to Purple Martins. Nicely done!
