2017- built T-14+songbird magnet, 6 pairs,15 fledged
2018- built 2nd T-14. Anxiously waiting!!

I started last fall by setting a second pole socket for another T-14. I’ve got the house and pole completed and ready to be put up. This time I made sure to build it with crescent SREH’s, too many starlings in my neck of the woods!
My latest project has been converting my 12 room Trio to 6 double rooms with crescent SREH’s. I like to tinker in the shop and probably cause I’m a tightwad, but I decided to build my own doors to replace the original round hole doors. They work great! I cut a slot in the 1x6 at 45 degrees so it would hang on the hinge point at the top. The porch also acts as a catch to keep the door closed. It tucks in tightly behind the Trio railing. I’ll try to post pics and dimensions if anyone would like to try it.

Buckeye farmer... Looks good to me.. having the wood at that thickness, will help stop the Martins from get their wings stuck.. Won’t need to add any wing entrapments on the doors.. Great job..

Thanks Dave. Over the weekend I got the 2nd T-14 mounted. I also added additional perch rods to the original house. I used 5/8” x 6’ fiberglass rods on the poles and 1/2”x5’ plastic coated garden stakes for perchs on the house. Should be ample room, hopefully they’ll need all the space someday! I also mounted the songbird magnet. It’s relatively weather proof below the house and under a piece of aluminum flashing.

I like the way you got rid of the metal doors. I always hated working with them. Can you extend the bottom board add sides and make a nest box like the T-14's use? That front cross bar might mess that up.

Those fiberglass rod are a good choice.. My neighber used them on all of his housing.. Lots of perching room..
