I would like to add a nest camera to one of my nests but I’m not sure how to go about it. I was looking at the Hawk Eye with 100’ cord but I’m not sure how to add that to my house that is on a pulley system. For some reason I just can’t picture how that will work. I’m a PM newbie and have found myself obsessed!!! I just can’t get enough info

. I put together my first house (nature house) about 3 weeks ago and I already have one Adult pair pretty dug in. I have several others checking it all out but one SY male and possible mate that hang out pretty regularly. He’s already figured out how to get in my crescent and modified excluder gourds whereas my Adult male just couldn’t figure it out. I finally gave in and put the round door back on the house because I got so worried about losing my first pair. I’ve already seen a couple of Starlings sitting on top and have run them off and have seen a GH owl sitting on top during the middle of the night twice. I attached the owl guards that were made by nature house and short story very very long now I want to add a nest camera. Any advice on type of camera, installing and running cord either on my house or tri tel pole that contains Gourds would be appreciated. The tri tel pole is a telescoping pole.( If I have success this year the telescoping pole will go next year)I have predator guard on one and will have predator guard on the other as soon as I learn how to drill holes in metal. This has been a very educational experience in many ways for me. Sorry to be so long winded!!

I have the Blink Cameras on my house as part of the security system. They would not be ideal for a nest camera. They have limited range for one thing, you have a box that connects to your wifi and the camera has to be within 100-150 feet of that box. Also they are designed as a motion activated camera. The way they are designed, once the camera detects motion it records a clip (mine is 20 seconds) and sends an alert and the clip to your phone. After 10 seconds if there is still motion the camera will trigger again. The batteries last quite some time when used in this fashion (mine are close to 2 years old) because they very rarely activate, only when a delivery guy shows up or the occasional wasp walks across the camera. If you had it in a gourd constantly kicking on and off the battery would be dead in no time. I think they are great cameras for their designed purpose I just think there are better options for a nest camera.
