Yay! Successful fledging!
I have 2 nests in two different houses, my old heath, and a new 3 story with 2 room compartments. Successfully laid and hatched eggs, and today both families are out and flying ! It’s a three ring circus out there. 9 babies and the parents. They are hilarious. Amazing that the can fly so well, but so clumsy landing. My first successful season. I had eggs hatch last year but none of the babies lived. Don’t know why. This is so exciting, hoping next year will find a few more compartments occupied.

2019 - 12 Troyer Horizontals with tunnels, 6 S&K B09s and 12 B011s all with tunnels. 43 eggs - 36 fledged
2020 - Rack 1 - 6 B011s, Rack 2 - 24 B011s, and Rack 3 - 24 Troyer Horizontals. All gourds have tunnels, porches and crescent/Conley 11 entrances; racks have predator guards. 161 eggs - 88 fledged.
2021 - 54 gourds-214 eggs, 184 hatched, 168 fledged.
2022 - 3 racks of 24 gourds. 363 eggs, 294 hatched, 278 fledged.
2023 - 3 racks of 24 gourds. 321 eggs, 276 hatched, 246 fledged.
2024 - 3 racks of 24 gourds. 330 eggs, 283 hatched, 250 fledged.
2025 - 3 racks of 24 gourds. 347 eggs, 281 hatched, 266 fledged.
Great Robbi - Ken and I have been watching your colony when we do our daily bike ride. Ken's colonies are going great guns as are mine on Boat Ramp Road east of you. Fun, ain't it.

Did you see any visitors from other colonies when they fledged? It's funny how they "communicate" but somehow nearby martins seem to be notified of fledges. I often time see a ton of martins, more then my colony has, when the first martins are trying to coaxed out of the house for their first flight.

Hey Mike. Yes it is fun. And you’re right. I have had so many visitors over the last few weeks when the babies were sticking their heads out. At first I was hoping it was a second wave looking for nesting spots, but soon figured out it was like a protective force keeping watch. This year has been a blast.
