Decoy slipping

I am looking for a better way to hold a decoy securely to a perch. I have tried enlarging the diameter with tape and also small zip ties. Both hold up for a while but slip after a few days. Any tips out there?

... My perch rods that I mount the decoys on are wooden.. So a small wood screw is all that I use... Good Luck ..

I use the S&K decoys and this year I used plumber's strap in various ways. I just made a loop around the perch and left enough length to attach it to the bird. The strap can be bent into position easily and allows the decoy to move a bit with the breeze.
I also started using short pieces of conduit slid over rebar stakes. I used self-tapping screws to anchor to the conduit. I move the stakes around every few days. The strapping is the best thing I've found to add a bit of life to the decoy as well as keeping it in place.
I use my decoys exclusively for hawks. This method has allowed for easy repositioning after a strike.

What works best for me is a screw type hose clamp. If you are not familiar with them go to a hardware store or auto parts store and ask for one. I tighten the clamp down tight on the perch. As you tighten it there is excess strap that sticks out and I then shoot a small screw threw the strap into the decoy. It works perfect plus the strap is a little springy so the decoys bob up and down a little in the wind etc.

Here is a link to one on amazon. It is not the size etc. you need, but I attach it because it is a good picture of the clamp and helps understand what I am talking about. The tighter you make it the longer the excess sticks out, if that makes sense. You can get these for less then a dollar for the small ones.

I use a 3" decking screw, straight through the body of the decoy and into any wooden surface.

Yeah, this is pretty close to what I started doing this year. I already had a roll of strapping, so I used it. I really like this way of doing it. I think the movement created by the spring like metal really helps draw a hawks attention. I will keep doing it, as I had at least 10 hawk hits on various decoys over the season. If it can fool the hawk consistently, it has to be good.

I use a small spring clip attached to the decoy so I can position how I want. I also use a zip tie from the clip to the perch rod so the hawk don't make off with my decoy.
