Martin Colony History: 2005-2019. Lots lookers, 2 successful nesting's.
2010-1 pair nested, 4 eggs destroyed(Wren).
2012- 1 pair nested, 4 eggs, 4 fledged
2019- 1 pair nested, 4 eggs, 4 fledged.
2021- 10 pair, 40 babies fledged.
2022- 17 pair, 10 eggs not hatched= appxy. 57 fledged.

All Photos Are Superb. Very Enjoyable Viewing.
Thanks Everyone. A good way to start this year.

Martin Colony History: 85 pair in 2020. Seems fairly consistent the last few years.

I will add this though. I'll bet you don't have a buzzard nesting under the deck of your porch at your ranch house. This is her 3rd year and she always produces one off spring. Scares the hell out of you when she flies out from under the deck just below your feet. :lol:

From where she is sitting she'll hop down on the deck, walk past the post that's on the right of the photo then jump down to the ground and walk under the deck.

She is very tolerant of us. The next time I'll see her is probably going to be July. By then her baby should be able to fly. I have a photo of her and the baby from last year sitting in the exact same spot she is now.

2021: 5 pair 25 eggs fledge 18, 4 egg 2nd brood attempt
2022: 13 pair 61 eggs fledge 56 added 11 cavs. now 22 total
2023 15 pair 75 eggs fledge 51 only 3 of 11 eggs hatched cavity 10
2024 11 pair 50 eggs fledge

Tried to attract PMs 2004; began more earnest attempt in 2014.

Current home site consisting of 2 modified Trio M12Ks, 4 ChirpyNests, and assorted artificial gourds, all enclosed in owl/hawk cages.

2018 — 3 pairs
2019 — 6 pairs
2020 — 12 pairs; barred owls late in season
2021 — 17 pairs; enclosed housing
2022 – 14 pairs
2023 – 18 pairs
2024 – 18 pairs
2025 – 24 pairs
2026 –

Manage FILs colony & public park colony. Attempting to start a colony at a wildlife refuge.

~20 years of providing housing for cavity nesting birds including Bluebirds, Carolina Wrens, House Wrens, Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, Great-Crested Flycatchers, Northern Flickers, & Prothonotary Warblers.

Turkey or Black?


We looked outside one day and saw a fish flopping around in the yard. Since there is no pond in our immediate area we were a bit puzzled. Then some green heron fledglings dropped down out of an elm to retrieve it.
