Hello all,
I purchased a used Trio castle last year and would like to convert the 24 rooms to 12 larger rooms and convert the original entrances to SREH. Is there a easy way to drill the aluminum plate in-between the rooms? It all looks to be riveted together.
Thanks

The older Trios were all put together by nuts and bolts. Small ones of course.
They also make room dividers to allow you to enlarge the compartment and provide added protection.

Be sure to consult with them prior to ordering to make sure the part fits correctly. All the replacement parts I've gotten worked just fine. So you should be able to drill the rivets out and replace them with small hardware.
I haven't worked on a newer Trio. The one I have was built a long time ago and is easy to subtract and add pieces to.
Feel free to post photos of our house and the rivets you are talking about so we can have a look and add educated comments.

The older Trio Castles are put together with rivets. They won’t be a problem to drill the holes to make the rooms larger. Its actually quite simple to do. I have always used a 3 inch hole saw on a drill. I know some people have used a extension on there drill but I have never had a problem without one. I added a picture of one of my used Trio Castles I got last year. All I’m going to say is sand down the edges after your done. This picture was taken before I sanding it. Hope this helps! If you have any more questions please ask!

Sorry.
Didn't see the castle part of Trio. I was thinking of the 12 room houses since I have one.
Thanks for clearing that up, Kyler.

I used a 2 inch knock 0ut punch and punched the wall twice making a 3 1/2 inch by 2 inch tall hole, basically egg shape. I would not cut two inch holes because I've seen birds stuck with wing entrapment. Cut at least three inch wide or larger holes. Since I did this 4-5 years ago to my trio castle, I haven't had any more entrapment.
