Wife and I cleaned out our gourds with a bleach solution yesterday and they are sparkling clean. I put a small handful of oak leaves in each one for a starter nest and hoisted the 12 Troyer gourds up the mast. My dawn song electronic thingy broke a couple of years ago but last year they just showed up. Hoping for another successful fledgling season!

One you have several successful pairs they'll return on their own the following year assuming they survive. No need to play the dawnsong after you have an established colony. Sounds like you have a good setup and the martins should be returning to your area soon. Best of luck and let us know when you get your first arrival.
