I understand your concerns about the chicks and the porch..From what I read, The front door panel can be adjusted forward and backwards, to add more porch room.. but for example, if you move front door panel, back an inch, you would have 1 inch more of porch but compartment depth would decrease from maximum of 10x9, to 9x9. I don’t have a safe haven, but am considering adding one. I’m sure s and k can answer any questions. Another option I’m considering, is having front panel set for a 1 inch porch, 9x9 compartment, then adding more porch by cutting a piece of pvc panel, and bolting it onto the porch to extend it out a little.

Sounds good. I'm sure S&K has done lots of research and testing, and designed the houses to be the best for the Martins. If they needed a bigger porch, they would have designed it that way. Maybe with the newer designs, with the different poles, the older ones will go on sale and I can get some at a really good deal.
