After reading about all the arrivals down south, I'm getting excited about the 2022 season. This will be my fourth season and will not see birds here along the southern shores of Lake Ontario until early May. Last year we had 5 pair with approx. 18-20 fledge. Then a really late pair with 3 babies that had us worried they would be abandoned. Luckily a few pair stayed around until the last batch fledged. Here are a few pictures from last year while I sit around waiting to watch the Super Bowl.

Oh man, great pictures! Thanks. Loved the male with his eyes closed feeding a chick, good shot there!!

I really like seeing those chicks peering out at the sky for the first time.

Think I'll get a camera now.....

Hi Bret,
Astronomy is a hobby I enjoy, so the pics were shot through a small Astro Tech 60ED refractor I use for a spotting scope too. My smartphone hand held at the eyepiece was how I got the closeups.

Thanks for the pictures. Reminds me why I happily spent 3 hours yesterday fine tuning my systems and getting the up. I finished all of my pre-nesting, sevin dust applications, and replaced worn perches and added perches. The Martins will have a joyous return.

I know what you mean! I can't wait to see and hear the birds again! I have a video I saved from last year I watch and listen to and it makes me smile every time! Here is a pic of a baby working on his suntan last summer LOL

Probably wondering where all that light came from.

I know what you mean, I was playing the videos last week....and dawn song, love that one.
You know whats really cool? Listening to the martins talk to each other and back and forth when they are tucked away for the night, sounds very content. Id go out and stand under the houses and listen in.
