The camera I have has the mount screw into the bottom, but I might be able to jury rig a mount. These comments are inspiring and I am going to order parts from S&K today. Thanks. If anyone has solved bottom mount cameras in this tube let me know.

Yep think its the same. Sounds like it, can use a small 1 inch block of wood on the outside of the cap, screws pass through the cap into the wood.Jayhawk1972 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 8:10 amThe camera I have has the mount screw into the bottom, but I might be able to jury rig a mount. the swivel adapter w/ the 2 mounting holes (which i believe is the cone you are referring to) works out just about perfect. it will sit just about flush w/ the opening. i used small bolts (#6 or #8) through a small piece of flat stock on the outside of the cap. i've seen others screw into a block of wood.
w/ verticals, i have a suspicion that you could put the hanging rod through the ring mount and hang the camera directly overhead. i tried it on my horizontals, but didn't think that there was enough head room. but verticals are a bit taller.
Yep, thats the mount I’m referring to. I’m not too familiar with the mounting angles and headroom on the Gourds so I best leave that one to the gourd experts. I now using chirpynests exclusively and I have the swivel mounts attached to the top of the access doors above the entrance looking down into the nest. The view down and to the back of the nest is 12” which provides a lot of view coverage. I too am using #6 stainless machine screws with nylon locking nuts. The aluminum is very thick so no additional flat bar or wood blocks were needed.defed wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 6:06 pmthe swivel adapter w/ the 2 mounting holes (which i believe is the cone you are referring to) works out just about perfect. it will sit just about flush w/ the opening. i used small bolts (#6 or #8) through a small piece of flat stock on the outside of the cap. i've seen others screw into a block of wood.

i'd have to see the mount that you are referring to. i believe you can probably find just the swivel mounts on ebay or amazon, which i know work about perfect in the s&k extension. there are also a few different blinks....there was an older blink for outdoors (blink 2 maybe?) and a newer one, which i think is called 'blink outdoor'.Jayhawk1972 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 8:10 amThe camera I have has the mount screw into the bottom, but I might be able to jury rig a mount. I'm interested in setting up some sort of persistent camera coverage on my colony. Hadn't thought of Blink cameras!
Which units are you using, and how do you have them set up for capturing video (wireless, data cable, power, does it require subscription)?
Thanks from Central Texas!

It is an awesome monitoring tool, and educational. Plan is to have it to view at a learning center soon (I hope).Cliffside_KSAT wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:20 pmI'm interested in setting up some sort of persistent camera coverage on my colony. Hadn't thought of Blink cameras!

I'm using the outdoor blink camera (battery powered) with a subscription for 6 months (the season). Ordered through Amazon (they own blink) and set up on an Amazon account. There is a registration process, scan some QR codes, sync the modules with the cameras and done.
The module connects to your wifi so sits indoors, comes with the package. The module holds numerous cameras.
Its wireless, there is a port to export pictures or video you want to save...iv yet to use it.
You can set the camera up to record as soon as its tripped by motion, but that will wear down the batteries quick I think.

you don't need a subscription for blink....if you don't have one, you need the sync module so you can store pics/vids on a flash drive. you are limited to recording via motion sensor and live viewing. you can't take video or capture pics on demand and live viewing is limited to 30 seconds, then you have to hit 'continue' or the video stops w/o a sub (not sure if the live viewing time changes w/ sub or not). i had considered getting the sub just during the season for more options, but after talking to ppl, it still won't quite do what i wanted, though i've since forgotten what it is i wanted to do LOL.Cliffside_KSAT wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:20 pmI'm interested in setting up some sort of persistent camera coverage on my colony. you can power them w/ batteries or there is a small solar panel all ready to use w/ it. the video is transmitted via wifi, so it's wireless (unless you use a solar panel - i do).
