Please educate me. I'm in the process of rehabbing my 16 unit house and want to improve on the "threshold that currently exists on the floor of the nest box tray. It is a strip of wood about 5/8 thick (high) and 1 inch wide that lays cross ways.
What do you all use for that purpose? What form does it take? Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If I understand what you are describing, the strip is in there to kind of contain the nest itself, to keep it contained to that back portion of the nest tray. Some martins will build a mud damn at the front of their nests. I built all my own nest trays and put these blocks of wood in them. Some nests are confined to that areas, some nests take up the entire tray.
