Opening Cavities

I have one PM house with 16 cavities and have 12 gourds. Currently, I have 6 PMs. Last year i had 8 pairs. How many cavities and gourds should I open? I'm currently not seeing any HOSPS, but I work full time. SWLA.

Soon the younger ASY age class will arrive, then the subbie hordes... think you probably don't need all open yet. Perhaps the ones you can cover with a pellet gun?
Seems the oldest like the upper most, so close up what your comfortable with on the back side, lower levels?
If you don't have or seem to have sparrow problems, no need really...all ours are open. Up to you.
Every year I plan on closing some up for subbies in April and every year I relent and open them all...give and take. Subbies inject new blood into a colony, and if they are nesting pose little nest disruption to others. Yet ASYs are all business, they are focused on nesting, experienced and their chicks do very well.
I'll struggle again this year.

Thank you sir! I'm off this week, so i will monitor more closely and decide. I know that they like choices, but don't want the illegals in.
