Some of my gourds are pretty old and the exterior porches have broken off. Can the birds still use them?

I would imagine they could. Can you post a picture?

Not ideal, but natural cavities don't have plush porches either? Maybe the senior PM minds will add to the conversation?

Martin Colony History: Colony started in 1998. 2 s&k modified houses and gourd rack

It may be difficult for martins to enter a crescent entrance without a porch.. it would be best to add porches.. pmca sells them I believe.. s and k manufacturing sells porches for a very good price..
Good luck.

Martin Colony History: 2019 - Sighting
2020 - Pair investigating
2021 - Got 2 eggs. HOSPs poked holes in them. Commence HOSP reduction
2022 - Off to a good start, tree swallows took over and Martins left
2023 - Off to a good start, Martin population dwindled and they eventually left
2024 - New standalone pole and gourd rack. 1 nest, 4 eggs, none hatched
2025 - 9 nests, 37 eggs, 23 hatched, 19 fledged!

I have a box full of basic porches from S&K. I’d send you some for the cost of shipping if they were what you needed. How many you need?
