2025- SY pair, fledged 2.
This may seem silly but I was wondering if anyone would mind sharing what they named their colony/colonies? I had martins for the first time last year and if they return this year I was going to be part of the PMCA Citizen-Scientists Project. When I looked at the form the first question they ask is what is the name of your colony. Iβm just curious what others have chosen: their own name, location, something catchy, a combination of all? Thanks and I look forward to seeing what you all chose.

I have never thought of naming my colony, but I think Iβll get it some thought. Thank you. I see your in NH. I lived in Manchester a few years as a young boy. I hope you have a blessed Martin season, I look forward to hearing of your colony.

I didnβt either until I saw it was necessary to fill out the form. I was curious how other landlords approached it. If it was at a park or other public area then I could see naming it after that location. Mine is in my yard so I wasnβt sure what avenue to go. I could get pretty creative I guess, lol.
Iβm in the Lakes Region, about 45 minutes north of Manchester, where (any known) martin colonies have been gone since about 2007. Last year was a mini miracle that a pair showed up.
Where is your colony?

I had a neighbor refer to my gourd rack as the "Taj Mahal," I guess because it's so big, fancy, and upgraded to the max. How about "Trump Tower" or "Mar-a-Lago?" I like those names.

I am located in Farmington Mo,about 60 miles south of St Louis. My colony consist of 3 Troyer racks with 12 gourds each. I have a good location and have been blessed with a healthy colony.

My husband and I jokingly call it Sputnik from time to time. Iβm really hoping people will share their names if they have one but if not weβll come up with something. Thanks for the chuckle.

Two SuperGourd poles (12 gourds on each) at River Point Assisted Living Center.
My last name is Saner. My friends have called me "Sane" for decades.
I think I will call my colony "Sane-gri-la".
