 I have my first pair of sy martins. They arrived June 1st. I checked 2 days ago , and discovered 3 beauitiful eggs. I will check again tomorrow. The male stops back occasionally, but I don't think he comes back to spend the night. I am being (probably) over cautious about the nest checks. I went to take a look yesterday and the female flew overhead so I didn't lower the house. I have six compartments, and only one is occupied. It appears in this area there is enough housing, and not enough PMs. I am excited that I have my first pair after 5 years. Hopefully I can fill-em all up some day. Wish me luck.

Hey Joe, where in Essex County are you? If you're interested, there's a great club called the Essex County Purple Martin Association (I am secretary) that has a lot of motivated and enthusiastic members in Windsor, Amherstburg, Leamington, Essex, Blenheim, Woodslee, Tilbury, and some even farther afield (North Bay, Collingwood, Quebec), who love to share their ideas, time, and efforts to help purple martins. Send a PM if interested. Congratulations on starting your colony - I hope all goes really well for you !
