Yesterday, 3 of the 4 Babies in my last nest, (the one the snake tried to get to) fledged. This morning at 6:00 the last baby took to the skies... .... Dad is really giving them a work out...LOL...They've all landed in the big trees to the west of the gourd houses, and he'll flush one out and make it fly and swoop for long periods of time... :) ... It wears me out just watching them....LOL...Last night was the first night none of my other PM's and fledglings came back to the houses and gourds... :-( ... I guess they've congregated at a roost somewhere. I hope this bunch stays around for a few more days, because it's going to be awfully quiet it they don't.... :-(

Here are my stats for this year.

5 Nests with 22 that fledged. I lost one runt.
Last year I only had 1 SY pair and 1 SY Male. The pair raised one baby. Three of the four eggs didn't hatch.

I am pleased with my numbers this year. I hope they all come back next season. :) .... Good luck to everyone the rest of the season... :) .... Pat

Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.

Great job, Pat!

Your little colony is really doing good! And it all started last year with 1 SY pair and their 1 baby. Awesome!

I'm very happy for your success. Best wishes for many more successful seasons in the future. Enjoy...
Sincerely,
Laverne
