As announced in the July 2005 Purple Martin Update, Project MartinRoost is here! This is a new program initiated by the PMCA to gather and disseminate as much information about Purple Martin Roosts as possible. Pre-migratory roosts represent a significant conservation opportunity as one roost may have as many as 500,000 birds! Project MartinRoost is an interactive online catalog of North American Purple Martin roosts. Approximately 364 known or suspected roosts have been cataloged so far! Most of those suspected roosts were located with Doppler radar which will need to be documented by someone at the site.
You can help by finding and documenting a roost near you. This website is the place to start your search. We hope that you share what you learn by reporting roosts to this website.
