2015 -- FINALLY!! One pair, 4 fledged. We took a 2 week vacation to Alaska in May and returned to find our first pair!!
2016 - - 2 pair, 6 fledged
2017 - - 3 pair, 5 fledged
This is my first year to try. I have 2 Trios with one plastic gourd hanging from each one. The gourds are just hanging from an "S" hook. We have had unseasonably high winds and the gourds are blowing so hard they bump the pole. Would this be a deterrent for SYs? I don't want to miss the "window of opportunity". Should I take them down or leave them up to provide options? I want PMs BAD!! I took 2 decoys down for a few days, but guess I'll put them back up. I think they should be here any day now. I do have a sparrow (not a HS) that's really persistent, though.

Gourds hitting the pole could keep martins from wanting to stay. Use heavy coated wire (10 or 12 gauge) to keep the movement down, or mount them so they don't move at all.
I know it's been very windy lately here in Corpus. Our gourds are wired on securely, and they move but not excessively.
I think you might need to snug the gourds right up to the house - dangling gourds are not good, and an S hook is not enough security for storms.
