Hi Again, I got my lonestar dis-assembled a couple weeks back and
before I pass it on I had some questions about the pole.
I've left it in the socket for a few years and it really rusted itself together
with the bottom pole section. I got them apart finally banging away at an piece of oak lying flush on the pole applying force at the lip of the ground socket. plenty of wd40 helped. anyhow can I reuse either of these pieces?
I hit the pole with a wheel and then a file and got most of the rust off. All I could do with the socket was pour oil down it and hope. I'm afraid that with the galvanizing off they will just weld themselves together again.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bill

I would get all rust off and inspect the both pieces for any perforation. If there is any holes in the metal change the pole out.

I'll find some marine grease. I have plenty silicone around here.
