Today I caught a tuffed titmouse in my S&S controller. Boy it was glad to be let out. It landed about ten feet away and started singing. It wasn't in the trap very long. We went up town, was back thirty minutes later and there it was.
Have only caught one starling and the titmouse. I am not seeing any starlings or sparrows in my area. I do have blue birds and they have their own housing.
I am wishing for only one pair of martins since this is my first year.
I don’t have the perfect site. One open flyway with trees within 80 ft. I do have a small pond they utilize during the heat of Summer. (2017) HEAVY HAWK PREDATION
not sure how your catch cage is, but I have safety exits for smaller birds. problem with that is you let out HOSP too. so...just a thought. sounds like you monitor closely..that's good.

I spoke to soon. Caught three starlings this morning. There were two more in the top of a tree in the neighbors yard. I'm sure I will catch them too.

Yes I monitor the trap. I do not want to harm any other birds. I have a flat 1/16 thick stainless plate with a 1 1/2 round hole shaped for the cage but have not installed. It's like you said, fear of a house sparrow getting away.
