Welcome back everyone!
I am sure this message is embedded in someones post, but I didn't see it in the topic titles.
If you are new here on the forum, hardware can rust and cause major malfunctions in the safety of your homes. Inspect everything now before you put up your homes.

This is a wonderful reminder, but since the ambient temperature is -10 right now, and the wind chill is -32, I'm going to have to pass for today! :)
I always feel as if I'm on a high-wire at martin arrival time, which is around May 23rd here. Sometimes we still have snow on the ground, and often it snows after they arrive. They are some tough cookies.
I try to get things out and ready, but it's either mud to my knees, or ice and wind, and look - here they come and I'm not ready.
I take down and clean the gourds every fall and remove the arms from the rack, I try to modify a gourd or two throughout the winter, since I can do that at the kitchen counter and/or the mudroom sink. But I'm sure, once again, I'll be running in circles on May 23.
Since all the birds seem to be arriving early this year, I'm going to try to be "almost ready" by May 7.

Hi Tony,
Yes, Emil has actually helped our school with the donation of gourds. We average about 110 fledglings each year (however it will be less this year). Our students can hear the Purple Martins from their classrooms.
Hi Caroline,
Stay warm! Don't get sick from the flu!! Actually I was referring to the hardware. We had a rusted cable last year that broke and dropped our T-14. I want everyone to check all of their hardware this year and replace anything that needs to be replaced.
