Is it just me?
Is it just me or are the Martins slow arriving in SE Ohio? Last year I was full up by this time and this year they are really slow. 24+ pair last year, only 2 so far this year. I know they were early last year but when they arrived, it was swift this year, very slow and spotty

- Martin Colony History: Start 2009 with one pair. Upgraded from S&K houses to two Trendsetter 12's with gourds beneath in 2013. I have experienced job, pet, and parental losses since '13. The Purple Martins lift my spirits and remind me how life continues forward by flying their little selves from Brazil back to my yard. As one forum person once told me, chin up DebA, look at the martins. Danger all around but yet they soar in the sky without a care in the world.
I think they were early last year and a little late this year so that spread apart makes it seem even later this year. I still think I have more to come here so you definately have time to get yours too.
Hang in there.

Hang in there.. A friend of mine in Pomoroy (20 miles away) has up to around 20 plus birds now, and another (two miles away) has about 8, so they are coming.. Keep us posted..

Reading your post Pear makes me feel a lot better. I also have just 2 birds one male and one female.
I'm beginning to wonder if any birds are going to show up. I know they will, its just hard to wait.
Looking forward to a great year! I've been telling my buddy that my birds will show up when the warm weather shows up and I'm beginning to believe that. Still cool here and were scheduled to have another cool down at the end of next week.
