looks like a rubythroat to me, Don - but one with more orange-copper to his gorget. we've seen a few like that before and they are eye-catching, very pretty.
I've got an interesting hummingbird here this AM, rather large and some buff on sides, kind of an eyestripe - it will keep distracting me all day!

That is a Ruby Throated. I take it they are rare for you? That is the only kind I ever get. Once, one got in my house without my knowledge. I kept hearing a funny noise. Finally I found it; he had flown into my open front cabinet and gotten his wing caught in the corner of the cabinet. I held him a precious second or two then let him fly off! Cool.

They would all be rare to me, because this is the first year I have paid attention and put up feeders. Cute little bugger anyway. I've seen as many as 7 of them whizzing around and chasing one another. Fun to watch. Thanks Louise and Connie.
