Manage 7 different colonies in Colby Kansas.

I'm having a hard time finding Banders in Kansas. I'm not sure where to go to find local Banders??

Martin Colony History: The 1972 St. Agnes flood wiped out all the Martins in my area. One day, in 1997-98, 5 or 6 Martins landed on the power wires crossing my back yard. I had no house for them. They kept coming back day after day. We got a martin house a few weeks later & they have been coming back every year since. I average 12-15 pair per year.

Check with your local Audubon Society or Game Commission

Honestly there are not many.. and in general there is not much to learn from by banding martins, so most are not going to be interested. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I think it's going to cost a lot to get someone to you that wants to do it.

Yes I have been looking for awhile. I haven't found anyone. With no big universities or anything close by I think it's kinda impossible. I also think it would cost to much. But thanks anyways!

Kyler, banded martins are about like 3lb Bass and doe deer, every one has seen them so why take a photo to try to impress?

I don’t have the perfect site. One open flyway with trees within 80 ft. I do have a small pond they utilize during the heat of Summer. (2017) HEAVY HAWK PREDATION

Martin Colony History: 22 year landlord, 14 at current residence..offering 9 racks and a homemade T-8 for 166 total cavities. 160 Pair in 2018 Racks consist of a Deluxe 12, AAA 16, Starburst 16, 2 K-18 Series, Super 24, 2 Gemini, Multi-purpose/two trio’s/4gourds and a T-8..Great hobby to be involved in..

Tim Mangan in Pittsburgh Ks is a licensed bander, but I don't know if he would be interested in driving all the way to Colby to band your birds..he checks in here time to time so you might ask....good luck.

Can't hurt to ask. You never know, he may have friends or family near you or even further West. I can't even count the number of times I've ridden/driven past Colby on my way to Goodland (grandparents) or even the Denver area (Uncle and others).

Yeah you may as well be in California. Most people don't realize you can drive for 7hrs in Kansas and still be in the state.
