Martin Colony History: 2016- Some visitors on my Trendsetter 12, no nesting pairs yet.
2017- More visitors, still no nesting pairs yet.
2018- Added Troyer Horizontal gourds and moved house to more open location. One nesting pair of subadults! 2 eggs, 1 egg hatched.
2019- added Gemini gourd rack. 2 pairs, 10 eggs, 10 hatched.

Up until this past weekend, I had just seen a purple martin or two fly around my site (usually silent) for a few minutes then leave. This past Saturday, there were two subadult purple martins that spent probably 3 or 4 hours during the day at my place, off and on and they were chirping a lot. They would land on the house and stay there for ~5-10 minutes at a time. I did not see them go into the holes though (I have SREH holes). I was outside watering some trees about 75 yards from the martin house and one of the martins circled around me for 3 or 4 times at a low elevation like he was checking me out, haha.

Yesterday morning, I saw one of the sub adults in the morning twice for about 30 minutes each time. Then I didn't see any until dusk when three sub adults zipped by (chirping very loudly) for about 30 seconds then flew on.

So I'm not sure what all this activity means, probably too late for nesting pairs this year, but hopefully this activity is a good sign for my chances to not be a wannabe landlord in the future!
