Last year as of today (June 29) date I had:
15 pair. 60 eggs laid - 19 bad= 41 eggs. 38 of those eggs hatched. They started to fledge July 10th.
So far this year:
17 pair. 70 eggs laid -26 bad/pushed out = 44 eggs. Only 6 eggs have hatched so far. One just hatched this morning (25th day). I have 38 eggs in nests. I doubt most of them will hatch. It's getting too late for them to re-lay.
May was too cold & wet. We even had 48 the other night. This could end up being my worst year ever :(.

They kept coming back day after day. We got a martin house a few weeks later & they have been coming back every year since. I average 12-15 pair per year.

2016 homemade Martin condo (40 nesting boxes) several visitors no takers
2017 changed crescent openings to Troyer Conley 2 openings and installed 4 super gourds with Conley2 adapters and 12 vertical Troyers.
Several nests and eggs. Hopefully will exceed one hundred eggs this year.
6-21-17 nest inspection 68 chicks and 26 eggs
6-30-17 inspection 90 chicks and a new nest with 4 eggs.
8-30-17 successfully fledged over 85 martins.
Toy, we're hoping all the rest of your eggs will hatch and fledge, so you will still have a good year

Toy, don't despair, I too hope those eggs hatch and they fly off.

Toy;
Sorry to hear things aren't going well over there. Hopefully it will turn around for you, a good landlord like you deserves better.
My site is doing pretty well so far. I have found three babies dead on the ground under my gourd rack, but I guess some losses are unavoidable. Also lost two adult males leading up to the nesting season. I will do a nest check this afternoon and I am hoping I don't find any surprises. My first nest is due to fledge on July 9th., and the last on July 31st., quite a variance. This is the first year I have had to deal with nest checks under those circumstances, should be interesting.

Thank everyone. I'm hoping some of these eggs hatch. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
The chicks that have hatched are super fat. I haven't seen any blow fly larva or mites yet. I did 2 nest changes for bird lice.

Any idea what happened to the chicks you found on the ground?
One year my colony was under hawk attacks every time they went to the river to feed. I worried how many wouldn't make it back each day. I lost a few males & females that year. One male, that had been injured, made it back to the house, but didn't survive. They sure have a lot to deal with after flying 5000 miles to get here.

Have had visitor every year 2014-24.
Two large trees removed in fall 2024 and moved T-14 to a more open location.
2025- 1 SY pair. Fledged 2.
2026- no pairs. One daily SYM here daily. Named him Riggs!
Thats got to be very disappointing. Very sorry. Im sure you will get the other fatties raised to fledge though.

The situation here in So. Central Pennsylvania appears a bit better. I have 20 pairs, 117 eggs laid, 76 hatched. First fledge expected for 7/5. To my surprise, I had a new hatchling yesterday. Must have had a pair, re-nest under my nose a few weeks ago.
Trying since 2006, started hosting in 2012

Sorry to hear about your site Toy. Hopefully most of the remaining eggs will hatch and fledge. My site is not doing very well either, our May was cold, then 2 weeks of heat and no rain. It was a strange spring. Fingers crossed for the remaining eggs at your site!
