My friend who lives about 10 miles from me, about 2 miles into Wisconsin from Illinois, had a purple martin arrive at his gourds about 4pm this afternoon! Poor thing - it's going to be so cold the next 10 days and nights. I hope it can survive.

I heard from my friend - he said the purple martin that showed up yesterday was still there this morning. Hooray for him!

Hi BillieJR,
Thanks for letting us Wisconsinites know about the scout arrival.
Can you encourage this friend of yours to post his sitting on the PMCA scout report? It would be nice to see where that purple dot is located for the rest of us!!

Thanks,
Brian

You have to be a member, here, right? He's not. So I don't think he can report it unless he's a member.

His location is Browntown, WI. That should help you find it if you google it. :)

I talked to him this morning and he said the pm is still there so that's good. However, we are getting snow right now so I hope this fella can survive the next week or 10 days of our cold temps.

I'll try to keep you posted if I hear more. So far he only has the one...no more have arrived (yet).

As far as I understand, you just need to set up an account to post a report on the PMCA website. There is no special granting from the PMCA to do this. Anybody can post as long as they fill in the correct siting information and account info. The PMCA monitors postings based on the location and information supplied and has the power to remove postings that seem skeptical. Good luck!!
