Welcome back, Malcolm.
Is that scout still hanging out that you reported on 2/7?
I'm in Plano and have not seen a Martin any where yet. I can see they are all around me on the scout report but I haven't seen one on any of the neighboring houses or at mine. I usually expect them in March so maybe a week or so and I'll start seeing them.
Have a good season.

Tom, Yes everything is GREAT! Glad to see you!
Whippy I have around 30 martins here at my colony site in Texarkana. I’m about 100 miles north of Steve K.
T bird they should be in your area. How long have you had your colony?

M-
I did hear that the larger the colony gets the earlier the Martins tend to arrive. If true, it makes sense you have 30 now from last years 115 pairs. I had 4 pair last year in my gourds and 2 pair across the alley whose Trio Wade has been moved to my yard. So I think March is my arrival date as usual. Maybe I'll fill my 24 cavities in the next few years or so.

Whippy,
I haven’t seen any either yet. They will be here right after this cold front and the wind blows from the south again.

Funny. I've been posting about birds showing up "after this happens after that happens" etc and... Nada. Zippo. You post one time about the weather and, boom! You got birds. What the hell? I'm happy for you. I must be doing something wrong. Maybe too aggressive on the key board. Who knows.
Hope you have a good season.

We have moved into a new home about 13 miles from ole one ..but still go back and forth occasionally to clean up and feed feral cats and place water out ..ole house today I immediately heard the beautiful song of Purple Martin back yard behind us and knew we were behind to get up gourds and clean out homes
So we went to local shop and purchased 2 16 room homes S&K models and put them together and went to local Lowe’s and purchased 1’ 15ft conduit poles and have them up at new home today...hope we get some colony start up here..
