This week my first nest of babies fledged and the past couple of days there has been heavy activity around the colony. In 6 nests I saw the nestlings sticking there heads out, especially when mom and dad brought back food. It should be a matter of days before they are out and finding a safe spot they will beroosting at for a few days while they get acclimated to their new surroundings.

This has been a very good year for me and I feel very blessed to have so many pairs this year. This is something I have wished for since I was a teen and I will not say how many years ago that has been :)

Martin Colony History: Erected 1st house in 1997. Birds were checking it out before Mike got down from the ladder. Six cavities had a little colony 1st year. Grown to 88 cavities all gourds with near 100% occupancy. Most important factor for success is rain = bugs.

Congratulations, Bob.

Enjoy yourself - best wishes for many more successful seasons.
Sincerely,
Laverne
