Hello,
I live in East Texas and I have 2 babies I have been feeding for about 6 days due to extreme heat and mother abandonment (inadequate feeding, followed by now absence for 2 days). The entire colony appears to have left for a roost somewhere.
Once the babies are ready to fledged

These are late babies and their mother was trying to keep them alive on her own without males help
Please please help me or connect me with someone who can help
Fledgling 1 is 41 grams
Fledgling 2 is 44 grams
Please assist me.

Best to find a rehabber Sonja if you cannot find a roost nearby.

Thankyou CC Martin- however there are no rehabers in Tyler Tx that take purple martins. This is my 4th season and I have searched this year and years before. When I had a dark eyed junco hit it window in January I took him 4.5 hours away to Houston.
I could do that possibly with the Martins. I’ve been feeding them super meal worms and crickets and they hand feed and plate feed for me even.
I really need a local East Texas colony that may also have had some late egg laying like my colony had this year. Here’s a video of plate feeding. I’m a behavioral health psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and I feel that has helped me to analyze behaviors and responses honestly! I tried to attach a video of how they have been taught to self feed but would not let me upload. I attached another pic. Please share with you networks to get me help for these precious babie
But again I would love contacts or connections or a way to find these contacts and connections with locals- is there a list of Martin Landlords people around me? If so can I get information to reach out to them?

They look well fed! Unfortunately, lots of folks drop off at seasons end. I dont have a list either...
There will be a point they start loosing body mass and the ability to fly despite the good food, lots of martins are passing through now but time is critical-the big roost here broke up, yet I see adults fly by. Id get as close to Houston as you can and let them go. no rehabber for them, well intended but feel they need martins.
Wish I could be of more help.
Tom
