FIRST TIME POSTER.
I am a first time poster. Wanted to visit this site after my birds left. took houses down before Dennis came through. Thought all my birds were gone. Walked out on pier as the winds died just before dark. To my suprise several birds started to fly around my head. I think they were trying to tell me something. I went to my storage room and got one of the houses out. Went back to the pier and before I could get the house up they were on it! That was amazing to me but what followed was even more suprising. I look up and the sky was filled with martins. Hundreds were circling me. I look back and my wife was at the end of the pier with her mouth wide open. I hoped they had already gone and the storm would not get any. I guess they can handle these storms. Before I went in I saw hundreds if not thousands of birds heading south flying low to the water on the bay. I am glad they are safe so far.

Wow, that must have been quite a sight. Welcome to the forum - you will find so much useful information and helpful people here. Hope you survived Dennis intact. Martins have probably been negotiating these gulf storms for many thousands of years - doesn't make it any less worrisome for the landlords, though !
