Came home and had an asy waiting for me to unplug my gourds. The season begins again in NW Indians.

I have yet to see an sy in NW Indiana. Have 16 pr of asy's with eggs. I usually get the sy's by the first week of May. The scout report has no sy's shown. Where are they?

I have a t-14, gourd rack and a coates waters edge alm house. This is the first year I finally got 2 pair in the alm house. It seems to be martins last choice in Northern In.

Thanks Bill. I lowered the house and found green leaves being brought in. I added some pine straw and the birds seem to be bring in more nesting material..Weird they lay the eggs and then build the nest.

13 nesting pair, 58 eggs. Been cold and raining but finally clearing up. 70's today. Two pair nesting in my coates waters edge. Layed their eggs in the entrance compartment, not in their nest. NW Indiana update

I haven't seen any sy's yet, but I have around 9 pair. 5 pair in the front t-14 and 4 pair in the gourds in back. No one taking to the coates alm. house in the back. Come on subbies! Frost tonight but 60's tomorrow.

Same thing up north here. Rain and then sun. Martins feeding in-between. Funny thing happened. I shot a starling and 2 minutes later a hawk flew down to the ground and picked him up. 5 minutes later I shot another and sure enough here came the hawk. Tom Only one martin still around this morning. Weather has been rotten. Rain,30's at night 40's daytime. I put out scrambled eggs but he didn't touch them. It won't warm up till Thursday. Tom, you hit it right on the head. You said I would get them this weekend. 2 males so far. 80 here today and 50's tomorrow. I'm sure more will come when the winds turn south again later this week.

Well the Trees showed up this morning. It won't be long now. Had my first last year April 14th. The weather in Crown Point is going to stay about 50 the rest of the week. I'm ready.

I haven't seen any tree swollows yet. I'm thinking the same thing, the martins and ts will come together. In the 20's tonight and 34 for a high tomorrow. No change for the next 7 days.

Somebody needs to chase the martins South. 36 deg today with wind chills at 15. Going to be in the 30's and 20's at night. I went thru this a few years ago and most didn't make it.
