Thank you all for your best wishes and advice! I'll just keep waiting! Also would you play daytime chatter? I have been but is it unnecessary?

Second year with martins...
Hi! this is my second year as a martin landlord, and I'm getting a bit anxious waiting for them to return. There has been several martin reports in my area, and mockingbirds have been mimicking martins, but I have yet to see any...should I be concerned? is there any reason why martins would not retu...

Martins confused?
I have had no activity at the colony for about 3 weeks, so I decided to Take it house down for cleaning and winter. About a week later, a group of adult martins where calling and swooping at the lowered pole. Should I have left it out sooner? Will they think something happened to the colony and not ...

End of season
All my martins except for 4 have gone to roost, the others are Subbie late-nesters. I have had a mostly successful season, surprisingly lost no chicks, but 4 eggs did not hatch. The Total fledged for now is 23, I hope to add 9 more in a week or so! It's my first season as a landlord so it's kinda bi...

Re: Nest check 6/26/21
I know! I was so confused at first and thought the one baby was missing, then I saw they had no nest! I checked the next compartment and there was the one baby and the nest. I have no idea how they did that!

Re: Nest check 6/26/21
Oh! I forgot! they moved 4 babies over to a compartment without a nest, one next to the one with a nest. Why would martins do this? They are Subbies so are they just inexperienced?

Re: Babies, and a SNAKE!
Will carpet tacks around the pole and snake netting work better? have any of you used carpet tacks to deter them?

Oh, I did not know that...... I just hope for the best that the snake netting will trap it if it tries to get up the pole.

I did not see it at first, so me and my mom screamed, then we gen...
